About West Kameng District :
West Kameng District of Arunachal Pradesh State is lying approximately between 91° 30′ to 92°40′ East longitudes and 26° 54′ to 28° 01′ North latitudes. The District is surrounded by Tibet region of China in the North, Bhutan in the West, Tawang District and East Kameng District are in the Northwest and East respectively and the Southern boundary adjoins Sonitpur District of Assam.The name of the District is derived from the Kameng river, a tributary of the mighty Brahmaputra, that flows through the District.West Kameng District is a mountainous tract in Arunachal Pradesh which covers an area of approximately 7422 Sq. Km. The topography of the district is mostly mountainous. A greater part of it falls within the higher mountain zone, consisting of a mass of tangled peaks and valleys. Tenga, Bichom and Dirang Chu are the main rivers flowing through the district. The inhabitants of the district comprises mainly of Monpa (Dirang, Boot, Lish, and Kalaktang monpa), Miji (Sajalong), Sherdukpen, Aka, and Bugun (Khawa). The HQ of this District is Bomdila.The Population of the District is 87,013 as per 2011 census. Administratively the District is divided into 3 Sub Divisions, 4 CD Blocks and 12 Circles

West Kameng is an administrative district of Arunachal Pradesh with its headquarters at Bomdila. The district derives its name from river Kameng, a tributary of Brahmaputra River. The district is surrounded by Tibet region of China in the North, Bhutan in the West, Tawang district and East Kameng districts of Arunachal Pradesh are in the Northwest and East respectively.
Most areas of the district are covered by mountains and forests. The inhabitants are all tribes. There are five major tribes found in the District namely: Monpas, Mijis, Akas, Sherdukpen and Khawa (Buguns).
Bhalukpong, Lhagyala Gompa at Morshing, Rupa Caves, Shergaon, Hot spring at Dirang, Shangti, GRL Monestry at Bomdila, Tippi Orchid Centre, Upper Doogjar at Rupa, Sela & Sange, SELA PASS, Nechiphu (Zero Point), Jamiri, Morshing, Dirang Fort, Ruins Of Bhalukpong, Ruins Of Dimachung-Betali.
Starting at the airport of Tezpur in Assam. The road passes through low wooded slopes, about 60 kms beyond Tezpur. Anglers and those who want a brief rest, should wait till they encounter the broad spread of the Bharali river as it emerges from the mountains into wooded upper plains. On the Banks of the river, at an elevation of 190 metres is Tipi, a glass house with over 7,500 Orchids. From here the road is fairly steep as it soars up to the small headquarters of the West Kameng district. Bomdila at a height of over 2530 metre. It has a Tourist Lodge, a Craft Center, Apple Orchards and Buddhist Gompas. There are also views of Himalayan landscapes and snow-clad ranges. Bomdila is a good place to rest overnight.
